@scattermutant It does, but it's kind of an anti-pattern to use them. It's a valuable exercise to reframe your programming problem as a series of transformations by functions rather than a set of instructions.

@cR0w Same! I loved that course (also, as an English major, it fulfilled my math requirement). But with specific regard to programming, my objective is to do away with the penalty of mental or manual computation in assessing mathematical understanding.

@NosirrahSec The only start to any way forward I see is a dissolution of the Democratic Party. There is no room for the ideas that can save us in current leadership. Last week I spoke to a middle school class about cybersecurity as a career, and AI came up. I asked if they had tried to use LLMs to do their schoolwork—they all had. But every student in the class said it didn't work. Why?

"ChatGPT is too stupid."

Kids are alright.

If you haven't taught in middle or high school, you may not be aware of just how powerful and ubiquitous the alt-right radicalization pipeline is. It always starts with YouTube or Reddit, and always end on the Chans (and now X) with the vilest shit becoming their worldview.

And when we're serving up Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan as the male role models, it's no surprise. No man who makes these awful choices is beyond reproach, but I know in my heart we've failed boys and this is the result.
