
People who work in teams with lots of files, possibly experimental data etc... across many systems - how do you keep track of their location/metadata? I'm contemplating a Universal ID + database + short URL setup but surely this has been built properly somewhere before.
Or... everyone just has a whole mess of files scattered around and if they can't find them, no idea where they were moved to 🤷

@jonocarroll@fosstodon.org I feel this really depends on the size of the team and the variety of how data is stored accessed and potential requirements for granularity in access control.
but just universal ID+database+URL feels to align to object storage and/or a document management system depending on the majority of the type of document
